The National Foundation for Fibromyalgia estimates over 12 billion Americans suffer from Fibromyalgia. In fact woman are ten times more likely than men to suffer from Fibromyalgia. Studies show, Up to 28% of adults with fibromyalgia report the onset of symptoms during childhood (6.)
Something I find personally disturbing is the rise of fibromyalgia related cases in children. Musculoskeletal pain represents the most common problem seem by pediatricians. 40% of children with chronic pain fulfill the criteria for juvenile syndrome (5.)
There is no known medical cure for fibromyalgia.
There is little evidence that Fibromyalgia can be effectively treated with drugs. A recent study of patients with long- standing Fibromyalgia demonstrates that expensive medical care does not result in symptom improvement or better function (8.)
As a chiropractic practice we wanted to know if we could help ease some of our patient’s painful symptoms due Fibromyalgia. Helpful things such as, regular chiropractic adjustments to ensure there are no subluxations present in the spinal nerve column. As a practice our mission is to educate and inspire patients to be pro active about their health and wellness.
Don’t just live your diagnosis!!
Have hope in alternative and preventive medicine. One of the major causes of Fibromyalgia is the involvement of one or more abnormalities by which the central nervous systems interprets pain signals. Trauma and injuries to the spine column can be a trigger for fibromyalgia (18.) We all know the nervous system is the master control system in the human body. If there are subluxations present that are blocking the spinal cord hyper functional or hypo functional neurons can create a chain of events including disturbances in the homeostasis of the cells, tissues and organs. From the information I studied and personal experience with chiropractic success I truly believe an individual diagnosed with Fibromyalgia can and will benefit from continued chiropractic wellness adjustments!
